Protocols Available:
SSH is available on all Linux and Solaris machines.
SSH Clients:
There are various SSH clients available for public use. Two clients are recommended by the Systems Group: PuTTY and Secure Shell Client.
- Putty is an open source client that can be downloaded at PuTTY Download Page. We have provided a PuTTY Usage Tutorial link for those who have never used it before. If you are trying to use X-win32 through putty, you will need to see the X-Win through PuTTY tutorial.
- Another client available is Secure Shell Client. Secure Shell Client is a commercial-grade product that is developped by Tectia (formerly SSH Communications Security). SSHClient has a non-commercial version available. You must read and comply with the NON-COMMERCIAL LICENSE AGREEMENT in order to use that product. Once you have familiarized yourself with that EULA, you can download the product at SSH Secure Shell Client. We have provided a SSH Client Usage Tutorial that you can use to connect to our Linux/Solaris servers ones you have installed the product.
